Please Join Us at the 2018 Esri Petroleum GIS Conference

Are you attending Esri PUG in downtown Houston this week? We would love to see you!

Our members will be presenting on essential topics for geodetic application across the ArcGIS platform.

These talks will be held from 4:15 to 5:15 PM on May 10th in Grand Ballroom C and include Basic Geodetics - What Every GIS User Should Know and A Hitchhiker's Guide to the GeoWeb. More details are shown below.

Session #1: Basic Geodetics - What Every GIS User Should Know (Michael Barnes)
Is your spatial data correctly located? Are you sure? There are fundamental geodetic parameters that determine the location of geospatial data. In order to ensure the accuracy of maps, these are things of which every GIS professional should be aware -- understanding basic geodesy and knowing the significance of the geodetic parameters behind the location data being displayed in a GIS application. This presentation covers these key components and acts as a valuable refresher for the GIS expert.

Session #2: A Hitchhiker's Guide to the GeoWeb (Keith Fraley)
The landscape of GIS is constantly changing. Once the most important concern for organizations was to acquire spatial data. Now? Access is the name of the game. In this talk, we will explore the concept of the "GeoWeb", or the ability to acquire access to geospatial data through the many resources offered by the Esri platform.

Please check the agenda for any updates to the schedule or stop by the APSG table outside of registration for more information.

Call for Volunteers

Speaking of the APSG table -- We know many of our members have been looking for ways to get more involved with the organization. Here is an opportunity!

While we have information out that tells attendees more about our organization, we know that first-hand knowledge is much more valuable! That is why we need help from a few volunteers to staff the table, handing out brochures and catching up with colleagues and industry professionals.

Please see available times below or view the schedule here. Contact Jennifer Still at education@apsg.info with time slots that work best for you.

We will see you there!
